Terms / Conditions and some helpful bits.
It's quite simple - nothing is ''cheap'' these days but as the old saying goes ''A fair days pay for a fair days work''. Both myself my Van and tools don't run on hot air and in the same breath sourcing materials and getting them to site, takes time. Like the ''Tesco's'' shop, I'd like to get paid when we get to the till, the job is finished and you're completely satisfied. As I mention below, on some larger jobs stage or part payments will be helpful but if required we'll have a chat about it. Materials are 99% sourced locally - where I can check the quality, amount and make sure they are correct for the job - it helps to support additional local businesses at the same time.
Therefore Labour Rates are charged at the following, unless agreed beforehand:
First hour £35.00 and £15.00 per hour thereafter or
£140 per day (one day consisting of 8 hours work, not necessarily at your required site)
Remember work may be completed in a shorter/ longer time than simply dividing the total labour costs by £140.00. But sometimes it may take longer if additional bits are unforeseen !
Materials
All materials used are considered an extra charge. If material price increases are incurred – between estimate and work commencing / purchase a further estimate may be supplied.
Material invoices are not supplied to customers unless previously agreed, usually for VAT purposes.
Clients may supply the materials required and employ Swansea Handyman on a labour only basis. Delays and increased costs may be incurred if materials are incorrect / damaged or delayed in delivery – especially from internet based suppliers. It is the policy to source and purchase materials locally, supporting local business.
Insurance
Swansea Handyman carry full liability insurance.
Fuel
Additional fuel costs may be charged if excess van mileages are required. Likewise my chainsaws, strimmers, mowers etc require fuels and oils.
Waste disposal
Due to increased restrictions and costs regarding waste disposal there may be costs involved. It’s the policy to recycle as much as possible and ‘green’ waste is used for compost and wood for wood burners. Plastics / glass and rubble etc will be disposed of in the correct manner
Photographs / Video
Photographs / Video of the site and working conditions may be taken during various stages – to aide estimating and to record different stages of initial, stages and completed work. These may be used in my marketing brochures, internet sites, and invoices. They are also used to aide future customers of the materials recommended or used and the final finishes obtained. At no point are direct references made to the initial clients, but in addition if you would prefer photographs not to be taken please let me know. All photographic material - either video or stills and work designs are copyrighted and are not forwarded to third parties unless your permission is granted. Likewise references and client comments are available – please contact me for further details.
Payment
Payment in full is due on completion of the work.
Stage payments / part payments may be requested at any time.
Failure of these payments may delay / curtail work until monies are received cleared in full.
Cheques are required to clear unless prior arrangements are made. Credit Cards are accepted, but attract a 10% handling fee.
Late payments will incur additional charges – usually £10.00 / day and an admin fee of £50.00
Internet banking is the easiest way to settle accounts.
Outstanding Debts may be part settled with the removal / return of materials. Permission is granted for either Mr. Alan Holland and / or authorized agents to enter premises and remove such items – either fixed or stored. Notice will be given.
General
Due to Legal complications Estimates are supplied NOT Quotations. Estimates are complied using my experience and based on current material / labour costs. If additional work is required i.e. items not covered in this document, additional costs may be incurred. Labour estimates are approximate and additional costs may be incurred depending on time required.
The design / specification of the work may change during the build and if this encures further costs clients will be advised. This mainly involves gardening and fencing projects where ground conditions, overall final finish and general looks are considered.
Due to the nature of this type of work, I have assumed that there are no hidden obstacles beneath any surfaces. If found and are likely to adversely effect either the work progress or compromise the final quality of work additional costs may be incurred. Advise is given of ‘’free will’’ based on many years experience. Liability is not accepted for any consequences resulting form this advice. If in doubt I recommend specific specialist advice is obtained. Please note for efficiency purposes schedule of work may not be carried out in the order listed on this document.
References are available should you require them. I don't post comments, anyone can make them up, but if you're more than happy with my work then a future commendation goes a long way.
Conclusion
Acceptance and agreement of these terms and conditions are taken when instructions are received to commence work, either verbally, in writing or electronic mail.
